North Royalton came into Thursday's matchup looking for another win against Hudson, but Maribeth Slater wouldn't allow it. The Explorers came out on top against the Bears by a score of 3-1 last Thursday for which the team can thank Slater, who had eight digs and three aces. She is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 18 or more in each of the last four games she's played.
While Hudson might've won, it sure wasn't easy: North Royalton scored at least 19 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-21, 20-25, 25-19, 25-20.
Meanwhile, Lakewood waltzed into their match on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They blew past the Patriots 3-0.
While Lakewood won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-20, 25-22.
Hudson's win bumped their record up to 12-10. As for Lakewood, their victory bumped their record up to 15-7.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Monday's contest: Hudson has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 13.4 aces per game. However, it's not like Lakewood struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.5 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything went Hudson's way against Lakewood when the teams last played back in September, as Hudson made off with a 3-0 win. Do the Explorers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rangers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
