3A Region 8 recap September 10, 2013
Perry Central scaled the state rankings by moving to 107 from 153 this week, the biggest jump in 3A Region 8. The Bulldogs were able to make move up by defeating Lumberton 8-6.
Perry Central and the Panthers played the most contested game in the league this week, with Perry Central eventually emerging with a 8-6 victory.
Trenton Abell was the best receiver in the league this week as St. Patrick lost to Pope John Paul II.
Gianni Ly was the best running back in 3A Region 8 this week. In 1 carries, he ran for 41 yards as the Fighting Irish lost to the Jaguars. Kolbie Spence also contributed to the rushing game with 45 yards on the ground.
Spence was a passing and rushing force as St. Patrick lost to Pope John Paul II.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Todd Lowery's team's Ashanta Bolton and Stevie Scott have proven to be a lethal combination. Bolton has thrown for 451 yards this season, while Scott has 8 catches for 196 yards. Craig Carson from Tylertown leads the league in rushing with 293 yards.
Tom Thompson's team lost to Mark Jeanmard's team 42-3 last week, the largest margin of any game. Abell ran for 37 yards and caught 1 passes for 19 yards in the defeat.
