Basketball Recap: Tri-County North Extends Winning Streak to Three

Tri-County North hadn't done well against Preble Shawnee recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Tri-County North Panthers rang in the new year with a 47-39 victory over the Preble Shawnee Arrows. The win was familiar territory for the Panthers who have now won three matches in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tri-County North to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bella Cherry, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine steals. Cherry has been hot recently, having posted four or more steals the last four times she's played. Leinani Garcia was another key player, going 7 for 17 on her way to 18 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Tri-County North smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Several Arrows players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ava Apking, who posted 11 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Unger, who put up eight points in addition to eight assists and seven rebounds.

Tri-County North's record is now 4-6. As for Preble Shawnee, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tri-County North will face off against Franklin Monroe at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Preble Shawnee, they will venture away from home to face off against Eaton at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Preble Shawnee is facing Eaton at the right time seeing as Eaton is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
