The Arcadia Firebirds entered their tilt with the Poquoson Islanders with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Arcadia walked away with a 57-46 victory over Poquoson on Monday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Arcadia also won the last time the pair played back in January.
It was another big night for Ryheim Pettit, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds. Jordan Cropper was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Poquoson's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Dayne Galacgac, who scored 20 points, and Khaleo Smith who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayson Kell, who scored seven points.
Arcadia pushed their record up to 12-7 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Poquoson, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-17.
Arcadia won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Northampton at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. One thing working in Arcadia's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 13 matches. As for Poquoson, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Bruton at 7:00 p.m. Poquoson will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 371st, while Bruton is ranked 97th).
