Sky View is 8-2 against Mountain Crest since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Sky View Bobcats will be playing at home against the Mountain Crest Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Wednesday, Sky View was able to grind out a solid victory over West Field, taking the game 57-49. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bobcats.
Liam Guthrie was the offensive standout of the game as he went 7 of 11 en route to 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Macade Rolle, who posted 12 points and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Mountain Crest was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Wednesday as they fell 60-55 to Bear River. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Sky View will need focus on slowing down Noah Cardon, one of several Mountain Crest players who made an impact when they last played. He had 19 points. The dominant performance also gave Cardon a new career-high in assists (three). Another player making a difference was Niko Dimitricoff, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 13 points and five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Mountain Crest smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in six consecutive matches.
Sky View's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-7. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points per game. As for Mountain Crest, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Sky View has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 23.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Mountain Crest struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.9 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Sky View and Mountain Crest were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in February of 2024, but Sky View came up empty-handed after a 58-57 defeat. Can Sky View avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
