The Dublin Gaels are taking a road trip to challenge the Berkeley Yellowjackets at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Dublin has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Berkeley will arrive with three straight wins.
On Thursday, Dublin didn't have quite enough to beat Amador Valley and fell 7-6.
Dublin saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cat Ramirez, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another was Caitlyn Carr, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Berkeley made sure to put some runs up on the board against Mt. Eden on Friday. The Yellowjackets put the hurt on the Monarchs with a sharp 11-0 victory. Considering the Yellowjackets' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Estella Espinoza made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Riley Pritchard and Ayshia Bell Vorkoeper did most of the damage at the plate: Pritchard went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double, while Bell Vorkoeper got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs. That's the most RBI Pritchard has posted since back in May of 2025. Maddie Saeturn also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Berkeley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.
Berkeley's record now sits at 5-1. As for Dublin, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Dublin has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Berkeley struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
