6A Conference 2 recap October 8, 2013
Western Branch was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from fourth to second in 6A Conference 2. Earlier in the week, the Bruins triumphed over Grassfield 55-7.
Oscar Smith added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Deep Creek, 70-6. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Western Branch's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Eugene Summerville chipped in 121 yards.
Summerville provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Greg Gibson's team bested the Grizzlies.
Terrance Ricks was the best wideout in the league this week as the Bruins bested Grassfield. Ricks tallied 1 reception for 10 yards.
Marty Asprey's team's Brett Smith and Vincent Lowe have formed a dream team this season, leading 6A Conference 2 in both passing and receiving yards. 6-4 quarterback Smith has thrown for 529 yards this season, while Lowe has 8 catches for 189 yards. Mondryl Glover from Western Branch leads the league in rushing with 578 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Woodside takes on Kecoughtan. As it stands, the Wolverines are in fourth, while the Warriors are in sixth.
Oscar Smith took down the Hornets 70-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
