Rock Canyon is 7-1 against Heritage since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Rock Canyon Jaguars will head out on the road to challenge the Heritage Eagles at 5:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Rock Canyon has three straight victories, Heritage has 12 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
In what's become a running theme this season, Rock Canyon gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They blew past Castle View 47-27. Given Rock Canyon's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while Castle View is ranked 98th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rock Canyon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alyssa Goode led the charge by scoring 13 points along with three steals. Sarah Davis was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
While Heritage couldn't quite beat Douglas County on Friday, the three-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 55-point defeat they were dealt on Tuesday. Heritage fell just short of Douglas County by a score of 54-51. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Heritage in their matchups with Douglas County: they've now lost six in a row.
Rock Canyon's victory bumped their record up to 16-5. As for Heritage, they dropped their record down to 4-17 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.
Rock Canyon didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Heritage in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 39-33 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rock Canyon since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
