The New Lexington Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Philo Electrics at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (New Lexington has three straight wins, the Electrics have three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
A well-balanced attack led New Lexington over the Tornadoes in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. New Lexington strolled past the Tornadoes with points to spare, taking the game 52-34. Given New Lexington's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 158th, while the Tornadoes are ranked 582nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Philo had to suffer through a rough 71-37 loss at the hands of the Scotties. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Philo has scored all season.
New Lexington is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. As for Philo, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-12.
New Lexington strolled past the Electrics in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 by a score of 52-36. The rematch might be a little tougher for New Lexington since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
