Even though the Hunters Lane Warriors scored an imposing 64 points on Tuesday, the Smyrna Bulldogs still came out on top. Smyrna walked away with a 71-64 victory over Hunters Lane. This was payback for Smyrna, who suffered a 68-58 loss the last time these two teams met.
Jalylle Batey-roberts was a one-man wrecking crew for Smyrna as he scored 29 points along with 8 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Tyreque Mccarver, who scored 14 points.
Despite the loss, Hunters Lane had strong showings from Michael Small, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 15 rebounds, and Nehemiah Cartwright, who scored 17 points along with 6 rebounds. Cartwright scored a full 26.6% of Hunters Lane's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Smyrna now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Hunters Lane, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Smyrna will head out on the road to face off against Boyd Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Hunters Lane, they will be playing at home against Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
