Softball Recap: Northwest Area Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Northwest Area waltzed into their matchup on Friday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They never let the Wyalusing Valley Rams get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. The Rangers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by seven runs or more this season.

Jenna Robaczewski made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Ava Ruckle was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.

Northwest Area was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .364 or higher in eight consecutive contests.

Northwest Area's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Wyalusing Valley, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northwest Area will challenge Southern Columbia Area at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Wyalusing Valley, they will venture away from home to take on Wellsboro at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
