Telfair County is 2-8 against Coffee since September of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. Telfair County will venture away from home to square off against Coffee at 5:00 p.m. Telfair County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.8 runs per game this season.
Telfair County's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Montgomery County 14-0. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Lylah Cate Jones was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Jones was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Hennessy Livingston was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in September of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ryleigh Jones, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Telfair County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Montgomery County only posted an OBP of .143.
Meanwhile, Coffee narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Tift County 1-0.
Not much got past Maggie Brown, who gave up just a hit and racked up 16 Ks to keep Tift County off the board. Brown has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
Telfair County's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Coffee, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Coffee's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Telfair County has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .521. It's a different story for Coffee, though, as they've only averaged .310. Will they be able to contain Telfair County's hitters?
Telfair County came up short against Coffee in their previous matchup back in September of 2023, falling 5-2. Can Telfair County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
