Softball Recap: Lincoln Wins Going Away Against Chavez

Lincoln won the last time they faced Chavez and things went their way on Friday too. The Trojans put the hurt on the Titans with a sharp 10-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won six contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Olivia (Peewee) Holtz was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Mallory Wagner, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.

Holtz wasn't the only one making solid contact: Lincoln kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The Trojans are 6-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory made it two in a row for Lincoln and bumps their season record up to 8-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Chavez, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season.

Lincoln wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 4-3 loss against Yuba City on the 4th. As for Chavez, they are taking a road trip to square off against McNair at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed eight runs per game on average), something the Titans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
