The Emerson Mavericks pushed their score all the way to 59 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 64-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Memorial. Emerson lost against Memorial in their previous head to head back in February of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 98-22 score last time.
Several Mavericks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was James Sanderson, who scored 18 points along with eight assists. Sanderson has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Keonte Greybear was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with two steals.
Emerson has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season. As for Memorial, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-12.
Emerson will be playing in front of their home fans against Centennial at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Memorial, they will head out on the road to square off against Liberty at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 625th, while Memorial is ranked 268th).
