The Heath Bulldogs will take on the New Albany Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
In what's become a running theme this season, Heath gave their fans yet another huge victory on Saturday. They put the hurt on Newark Catholic with a sharp 70-44 win. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Heath has managed all season.
Ben Mason was his usual excellent self, shooting 4-for-7 from long range and dropping a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Devito, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, New Albany waltzed into their game on Friday with four straight wins but they left with five. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 57-54 win over Pickerington Central. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory New Albany has posted yet this season.
Heath pushed their record up to 7-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for New Albany, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
