Basketball Recap: Dexter Falls Despite Big Games from Bryce Cooper and Isiah Robinson

Dexter played a tough match on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 68-43 to the Mattanawcook Lynx. The Tigers have struggled against the Lynx recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Isiah Robinson and Bryce Cooper certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Robinson went 10 of 12 on his way to 25 points and five boards, while Cooper went 7 for 16 en route to 14 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Robinson a new career-high in points.

Mattanawcook found their leader in sophomore Kooper McCarthy, who posted 15 points in addition to seven steals and six rebounds. The contest was McCarthy's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Andrew Oliver was another key player, putting up 11 points along with eight boards and four steals.

Dexter's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Mattanawcook, the win keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.

Dexter and Mattanawcook should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Maine Rankings. Dexter will challenge Penquis Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Friday up 55 places (30 vs. 85). Similarly, Mattanawcook (ranked fifth) will meet George Stevens Academy (ranked 67th) at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
