The Foothill Cougars's three-game losing streak came to an end on Tuesday. They skirted past Chico 60-57. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Foothill has posted yet this season.
Foothill's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tyler Zanhiser, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jose Cruz, who scored 15 points along with five assists.
Despite the loss, Chico still got an impressive performance from Magnus Nielsen, who scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Neugebauer, who scored seven points.
Even though they lost, Chico smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Foothill only pulled down four offensive rebounds.
Foothill's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-8. As for Chico, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 12-8.
Foothill will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Red Bluff at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Red Bluff focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday. As for Chico, they will head out on the road to face off against Pleasant Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Pleasant Valley presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Chico in California (Pleasant Valley is ranked 160th, while Chico is ranked 332nd).
