Cardinal Gibbons walked away with a 74-62 victory over the Spartans on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Cardinal Gibbons got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Cash McSweeney out in front who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 18 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McSweeney has scored all season. Aiden Smalls was another key contributor, scoring 26 points along with five rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Sanderson had strong showings from Kendrick Pulley, who scored 21 points, and Nathan Fife, who scored 21 points along with five assists. It was the first time this season that Pulley scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Patrick Dalton, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Cardinal Gibbons has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Sanderson, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-7.
Cardinal Gibbons will take on the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Enloe is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak. As for Sanderson, they will head out on the road to face off against the Jaguars at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Athens Drive will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 389th, while the Spartans are ranked 114th).
