The South Austin W Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 11th straight loss. They fell 58-46 to Hyde Park. The result was an unpleasant reminder to South Austin W of the 63-52 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2023.
Leading Hyde Park to victory were Knox Riemondi and Charlie Burton. Riemondi scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and five steals, while Burton scored 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Hank Rippy, who scored six points along with two steals and two blocks.
South Austin W's defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-14. As for Hyde Park, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-14.
South Austin W's road trip will continue as they head out to face Founders Classical Academy at 7:45 p.m. on January 26th. Hyde Park will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on St. Michael's at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Michael's knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 16 contests -- so hopefully Hyde Park likes a good challenge.
