Allen Park is 9-1 against Carlson since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Jaguars will welcome the Marauders at 4:30 p.m. Allen Park is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
While Allen Park's win against Flat Rock wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Jaguars won by a run and slipped past the Rams 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Jaguars have posted since May 28, 2024.
Allen Park let Hannah Ward and Lilli Acker run wild. Ward scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Acker scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Acker a new career-high in doubles (two). Mya Brandenburg was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
They weren't the only one making solid contact: Allen Park kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Carlson). They blew past Lincoln Park 20-5 on Monday. With that win, the Marauders brought their scoring average up to 9 runs per game.
Avery McAuliffe was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. McAuliffe was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Carlson got a massive performance out of Lauren Dunwoody, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and five RBI. Another player making a difference was Hayden England, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.
Allen Park's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 9.0 runs this season. As for Carlson, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Allen Park's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's contest. The Jaguars have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Carlson, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Allen Park continue to outrun the ball?
Allen Park took their win against Carlson when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1 score. Will the Jaguars repeat their success, or do the Marauders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
