Colleyville Heritage and Brewer are an even 3-3 against one another since November of 2017, but not for long. The Colleyville Heritage Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Brewer Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Colleyville Heritage is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.8 points per game this season.
Last Friday, Colleyville Heritage strolled past Grapevine with points to spare, taking the game 55-36. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 231st, while the Mustangs are ranked 478th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Colleyville Heritage's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sameer Johnson, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Cash Gardner, who posted 14 points.
Chisholm Trail typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Brewer proved too difficult a challenge. They skirted past the Rangers 33-31.
Brewer found their leader in sophomore Braylen Brown, who scored 11 points. Brown is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last seven games he's played. Jayden Jones was another key player, putting up nine points.
Brewer pushed their record up to 19-15 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Colleyville Heritage, they now have a winning record of 16-15.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Colleyville Heritage has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 21.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Brewer struggles in that department as they've been averaging 23.8 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Colleyville Heritage won a game that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, slipping by Brewer 40-39. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Brewer's Julian Perez, who went 7-for-15 en route to 21 points. Now that he won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be easier for Colleyville Heritage to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
