The Northview Academy Cougars won against the Seymour Eagles last Tuesday with 58 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. In a tight match that could have gone either way, Northview Academy made off with a 58-57 win over the Eagles. Given Northview Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 134th, while the Eagles are ranked 382nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Seymour lost, one person who can't be blamed is Cameron Soulages. Despite the final result, he scored 31 points along with two steals. That was a full 54.4% of Seymour's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Balyn Wolfe was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
The victory (which was Northview Academy's third in a row) raised their record to 15-10. As for Seymour, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-20.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northview Academy is on the road again on Tuesday and plays the Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. As for Seymour, they will face off against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Pigeon Forge is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
