Basketball Recap: Grand Island Comes Up Short

Grand Island lost against Lincoln North Star back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Grand Island Islanders were outmatched by the Lincoln North Star Navigators and fell 72-34. While losing is never fun, the Islanders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 163rd, while the Navigators are ranked 21st).

When it comes to explaining why Grand Island lost, don't look at Victor Fisher Jr. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards. The match was Fisher Jr's fourth in a row with at least ten points.

Jordan Castor was nothing short of spectacular for Lincoln North Star: he posted 21 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Castor has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was William Schafer, who had seven points in addition to five boards and four steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Grand Island and nudges their season record down to 1-3. As for Lincoln North Star, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Grand Island wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 51-33 win against North Platte on the 14th. As for Lincoln North Star, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 84-83 victory against Lincoln Northeast on the 17th.
