The Jefferson Area Falcons will head out on the road to face off against the Sharon Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Jefferson Area will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Conneaut on Wednesday. The Falcons blew past the Spartans 12-1. The victory continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won six in a row.

Rylee Demattia and Marillia Matuz did most of the damage at the plate: Demattia went 2-for-4 with five RBI and one double, while Matuz got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Those five RBI gave Demattia a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alaina Barress, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Sharon gave up the first runs, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against Jefferson Area as they made off with a 9-1 win. The victory was nothing new for the Tigers as they're now sitting on eight straight.
Madelyn Vogan made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alauna Wilson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season. Marley Bundrant was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.
Sharon lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Sharon's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Jefferson Area, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Jefferson Area has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .458. However, it's not like Sharon struggles in that department as they've averaged .464. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Jefferson Area might still be hurting after the 9-1 loss they got from Sharon in their previous meeting on Tuesday. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
