Given St. Pius X Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Vikings are ranked 305th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Marist scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They strolled past Dunwoody with points to spare, taking the game 73-59. Winning may never get old, but Marist sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Luke Harpring was his usual excellent self, scoring 29 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Davis Ledford, who scored 15 points.
The victory (which was St. Pius X Catholic's third in a row) raised their record to 16-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.0 points per game. As for Marist, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.
St. Pius X Catholic was able to grind out a solid victory over the War Eagles when the teams last played back in January, winning 56-44. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Harpring, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds.
