Fordham Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Cardinal Spellman likes a good challenge.
Fordham Prep can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Monday. They blew past St. Joseph-by-the-Sea 67-39 at home. Given Fordham Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while St. Joseph-by-the-Sea is ranked 459th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Matthew Kapfer and Will Gregory were among the main playmakers for Fordham Prep as the former scored 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals and the latter went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 2 assists. Gregory continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Charles Panarella was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Cardinal Spellman's recent rough patch got a bit rougher back in December of 2023 after their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They suffered a tough 56-32 loss at the hands of St. Edmund Prep.
Fordham Prep pushed their record up to 13-3 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30.67 points. As for Cardinal Spellman, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
Everything came up roses for Fordham Prep against Cardinal Spellman when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 79-29 victory. With Fordham Prep ahead 49-5 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
