Eisenhower is 0-10 against Moses Lake since May of 2017 but things could change on Friday. Eisenhower will head out on the road to challenge Moses Lake at 5:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Eisenhower gave up the first runs last Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on Naches Valley with a sharp 18-7 victory. The Cadets' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Thalia Garza and Zabella Hickenbottom did most of the damage at the plate: Garza went 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles, while Hickenbottom got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most RBI Hickenbottom has posted since back in April of 2024. Londyn Leadon was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Eisenhower always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Moses Lake waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Suns. Considering the Mavericks have won three matchups by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Paige Richardson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.
In other batting news, Moses Lake let Hayden Morris and Caitlin Decubber run wild. Morris scored two runs while going 4-for-5, while Decubber scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Mya Martinez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Moses Lake pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 21.67 hits in those games compared to only 5.33 in the others. As for Eisenhower, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Eisenhower might still be hurting after the 14-4 loss they got from Moses Lake in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Eisenhower avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
