The Woodlawn Cardinals will head out on the road to challenge the Sesser-Valier/Waltonville Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Woodlawn focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Wednesday.
Woodlawn fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Foxes but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 56-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Foxes. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Woodlawn in their matchups with the Foxes: they've now lost nine in a row.
Sophia Skinner put forth a good effort for the losing side as she dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jase Burkett, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Sesser-Valier/Waltonville blew past the Falcons, posting a 49-20 victory at home. The win was just what Sesser-Valier/Waltonville needed coming off of a 65-21 loss in their prior match.
Woodlawn's defeat dropped their record down to 17-8. As for Sesser-Valier/Waltonville, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-15.
Woodlawn took their victory against the Red Devils when the teams last played back in November of 2023 by a conclusive 62-40. Will Woodlawn repeat their success, or do the Red Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
