Mineral Point has gone a perfect 10-0 against Riverdale recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Pointers will welcome the Chieftains at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Riverdale will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Mineral Point extended their winning streak to 14 on Tuesday. Everything went the Pointers' way against Cuba City as they made off with a 12-4 win.
Tenleigh Bockhop made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. Bockhop was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jadyn Schultz, who went 4-for-5 with two triples, three runs, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Maddy Kabat, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Riverdale came out on top against New Lisbon on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Chieftains were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Rockets.
Like Mineral Point, Riverdale also got a great game from a two-way player: Riley Kinney. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Kinney was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Riverdale got a massive performance out of Elaine Olson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Macy McKay was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Riverdale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Mineral Point's victory bumped their record up to 17-3. As for Riverdale, their win bumped their record up to 10-6.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Mineral Point has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .482. However, it's not like Riverdale struggles in that department as they've averaged .461. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
