The Sullivan Redskins will face off against the Mattoon Greenwave at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sullivan will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
On Tuesday, Sullivan made easy work of Arthur-Okaw Christian and carried off an 11-1 victory. Considering the Redskins have won three matchups by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Aeralyn Thrasher made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Player #6 was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. Player #14 was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Sullivan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2025.
Mattoon let Newton stack four runs on them in the sixth inning on Tuesday but luckily Mattoon prevailed anyway. The Greenwave came out on top in a nail-biter against the Eagles, sneaking past 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Greenwave have posted since May 14, 2025.
The team relied heavily on Micheala Starwalt, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Belle Powers, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Mattoon has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 10.0 runs this season. As for Sullivan, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 3-4.
Everything went Sullivan's way against Mattoon when the teams last played back in March of 2025, as Sullivan made off with a 12-1 victory. Do the Redskins have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Greenwave turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
