Havana has gone 8-2 against Astoria/VIT recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Ducks will take on the Rebels at 4:30 p.m. Havana is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Havana will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Thursday, then bounced right back against Brown County on Friday. The Ducks never let the Hornets get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. The Ducks haven't had any issues with the Hornets recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Kaydi Miller was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. Maddie Howerter was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Havana hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brown County struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, Astoria/VIT was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They came up short against Liberty, falling 18-8. That's two games in a row now that the Rebels have lost by exactly ten runs.
Astoria/VIT saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was H Horwedel, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Another was S Heller, who got on base in both of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Havana's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-3-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Astoria/VIT, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-16.
Astoria/VIT's pitching crew better be locked in on Monday. Havana hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. It's a different story for Astoria/VIT, though, as they've been averaging only 0 home runs. Will they be able to keep Havana in the park?
Havana took their victory against Astoria/VIT when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 15-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Ducks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
