After a string of three wins, The Kennedy Titans''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell to Piedmont 35-29. Kennedy has struggled against Piedmont recently, as their game on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Several Titans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Maynard Lorenzo, who rushed for 144 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.0 yards per carry. Lorenzo was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards. Another player making a difference was Adrian Velazquez, who rushed for 30 yards and two touchdowns.
Sam Shelby continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Piedmont, picking up 164 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 154 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. Shelby is on a roll when it comes to receiving yards, as he's now posted 100 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Markos Lagios, who threw for 200 yards and two touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes.
Kennedy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Piedmont, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kennedy will challenge Alameda at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Alameda will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Piedmont is on the road again on Saturday and play against American at 1:00 p.m. on October 28th. American is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
