Trey Johns and Jaylin Robinson provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Carroll. The connection went for 71 yards, the longest such play in 5A Region 2 this season.
Russell County moved up to 195 from 239 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Warriors were able to make the jump by besting Marbury 63-43.
Eufaula's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Johns threw for 127 and two touchdowns and Robinson had 71 yards receiving. On the ground Xavier Woodson chipped in 102 yards. Siran Neal helped Eufaula's passing attack out by catching four balls for 42 yards.
JOSHUA MEIGS provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Valley beat Booker T. Washington. He completed 10 passes for 133 yards and one touchdown and also ran for seven yards. MEIGS's favorite target this week was HOUSTON BARNES, who caught five passes for 63 yards.
6-foot-2 quarterback MEIGS of the Rams is the league leader in passing yards this season with 925. He has also thrown seven touchdowns. On the ground, the Tigers' Woodson has rushed for 491 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Robinson. The Eufaula star has 14 catches for 298 yards.
A big matchup in 5A Region 2 this week will be when Russell takes on the Eagles. The Wildcats are in first place, while Carroll is in third place.
Russell extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Rehobeth, 45-10. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
