The Edisto Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Denmark-Olar, falling 55-27. Edisto has not had much luck with Denmark-Olar recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Denmark-Olar was led to victory by Aveion Walker and Joy Johnson. Walker scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and five steals, while Johnson scored 19 points. That's the first time this season that Johnson scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amuria Wright, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds.
Edisto bumped their record down to 1-5 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.3 points per game. As for Denmark-Olar, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Edisto will take on Swansea at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Swansea is ranked 184th, while Edisto is ranked 209th).
