The Sammamish RedHawks waltzed into their matchup on Friday with five straight wins but they left with six. They escaped with a win against Highline by the margin of a single free throw, 62-61. Given Sammamish's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while Highline is ranked 271st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Sammamish to victory were Anthony Boddie and Barry Morrissette. Boddie scored 18 points, while Morrissette scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Morrissette has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Highline still got an impressive performance from Marquawn Mccraney, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. Corey Crosby was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks.
Sammamish's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.8 points per game. As for Highline, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sammamish won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Hazen at 4:00 p.m. on January 20th. As for Highline, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Renton at 8:15 p.m.
