Garden City is 9-1 against Dodge City since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Buffaloes will be playing at home against the Demons at 4:00 p.m. Garden City has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with three straight losses, while Dodge City will come in with four straight wins.
Great Bend hit Garden City with a four-run second inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Buffaloes came up short against the Panthers, falling 9-2.
Elly Ortiz was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Wilder, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and one RBI.
Meanwhile, while Dodge City put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Heights. The Demons blew past the Falcons 16-0.
Macy Musslin was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kenadie Thompson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Anjeli De Avila, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run.
Dodge City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .654. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
Dodge City's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-16. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Garden City, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
Dodge City's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Garden City hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .360. It's a different story for Dodge City, though, as they've only averaged .235. Will they be able to contain Garden City's hitters?
