Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Clinton Gaels walked away with it. They blew past South Shore Vo-Tech 38-8 at home. Considering Clinton has won four contests by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Clinton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Connor Cox, who rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Taetum Cassella, who rushed for 84 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Clinton's defense and their five sacks. Leading the way was Cox and his two sacks.
Clinton now has a winning record of 5-4. As for South Shore Vo-Tech, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clinton will square off against Rockland at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Massachusetts (Rockland is ranked 114th, while Clinton is ranked 118th). As for South Shore Vo-Tech, they will head out on the road to face off against Tri-County RVT at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Tri-County RVT will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
