St. Louis Catholic is 0-3 against DeQuincy since March of 2020 but things could change on Thursday. The Saints will head out on the road to challenge the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. St. Louis Catholic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Last Monday, St. Louis Catholic made easy work of DeRidder and carried off a 10-3 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Saints.
Mattie Fullington spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Abby Traub was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Jillian Richard, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, DeQuincy came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Lions. Seven seems to be a good number for the Tigers as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
DeQuincy also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Maddie Vinatieri gave up only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up ten Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Onnie Remedies, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Audi Flower was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
St. Louis Catholic's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for DeQuincy, their win bumped their record up to 17-11.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. St. Louis Catholic hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .331. However, it's not like DeQuincy struggles in that department as they've averaged .340. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
St. Louis Catholic might still be hurting after the 16-0 defeat they got from DeQuincy when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can the Saints avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
