The Ethel Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 74-48 loss at the hands of Velma Jackson. If Ethel was looking for revenge after losing 70-36 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Ethel's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zantavius Clark, who scored 19 points. It was the first time this season that Clark scored 15 or more points. X'zavius Merritt was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Ethel dropped their record down to 4-17 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Velma Jackson, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-13.
Ethel will head out on the road to square off against the Tigers at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Mississippi (Noxapater is ranked 284th, while the Tigers are ranked 304th). Velma Jackson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
