The Old Forge Blue Devils are taking a road trip to face off against the West Scranton Invaders at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Old Forge fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Western Wayne on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 7-6. The Blue Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Angelo DiMauro was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Colin Mulkerin was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, West Scranton beat Delaware Valley 5-2 on Monday.
Thomas Selemba was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run. He also put up a hit, which was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Colin May was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs. Evan Walsh also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
West Scranton's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Old Forge, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
Old Forge's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's game. The Blue Devils have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for West Scranton, though, as they've been averaging only 0.5 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Old Forge continue to outrun the ball?
Old Forge skirted past West Scranton 6-4 in their previous meeting back in March of 2025. Will the Blue Devils repeat their success, or do the Invaders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
