This week's postseason excitement didn't throw the rankings into complete disarray, but it did reorder the standings a decent amount. Part of the action? A towering 106-point combined score for Summit and Voorhees.
Can't Touch This
Somerville got a 35 - 14 win over Raritan last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Jalahn Dabney. Dabney earned four touchdowns and 317 yards rushing the ball. That performance landed Dabney among the top power-ranked players for the week.
Movin on Up
Long Branch managed to bank 190 more yards than its opponent Middletown North last week, and going the extra distance paid off. The final score between Long Branch and Middletown North was a 42 - 0 blowout in Long Branch's favor. That 42-point margin marks the most Long Branch has won by all season. Its success was rewarded with a five-spot boost in the power rankings, the biggest improvement of any team.
This Week's Big Showdown
The clash of the power ranking titans last week was between Peddie (3rd in the MaxPreps state rankings) and Blair Academy (14th). Peddie snuck past Blair Academy with a 21 - 14 victory. Even if it didn't bump Peddie up the rankings, the win at least kept the team from dropping.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between West Deptford (12th in the power rankings) and Camden (11th). The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games. Don't be surprised if the score for this one pushes triple digits as West Deptford and Camden both racked up points last week.
