Hartsville has gone 9-1 against Wilson recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Red Foxes are taking a road trip to challenge the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Wilson will be up against a hot Hartsville team: the squad just extended their winning streak to seven. The Red Foxes were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over Lakewood on Thursday.
Allie Bailey looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Hartsville let Carter Shumate and Myah Harvey run wild. Shumate went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs, while Harvey went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple. That's the most hits Shumate has posted since back in March of 2024. Jaysha McCullough was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Hartsville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .647. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .303 or higher in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Wilson never let their opponents score last Friday. They blew past Lower Richland 15-0. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for the Tigers this season.
Zoey Miller made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Miller was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing seven bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Sakura Jordan was a standout: she scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-1. Makayla Gadson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Hartsville pushed their record up to 16-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Wilson, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Hartsville has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Wilson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 12.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Hartsville's way against Wilson when the teams last played back in March, as Hartsville made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Foxes since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
