Basketball Game Preview: Yorkville Christian Mustangs vs. Aurora Central Catholic Chargers

The Yorkville Christian Mustangs will square off against the Aurora Central Catholic Chargers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Yorkville Christian: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Aurora Central Catholic has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.

Last Thursday, Yorkville Christian came up short against Timothy Christian and fell 47-35.

Despite their loss, Yorkville Christian saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Danielle Bulson, who posted six points along with 11 rebounds and five assists, was perhaps the best of all. Bulson is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Ava DiQui was another key player, putting up ten points and eight boards.

Even though they lost, Yorkville Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Aurora Central Catholic was fully in charge on Wednesday, breezing past IC Catholic Prep 69-38. The Chargers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 games by 23 points or more this season.

Yorkville Christian's defeat ended an 11-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-5. As for Aurora Central Catholic, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-2 record this season.

Things could have been worse for Yorkville Christian, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 67-51 loss to Aurora Central Catholic in their previous matchup back in January of 2024.
