The Kern Valley Broncs were the 50-47 winner over the Mammoth Huskies when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Kern Valley suffered a rough 63-38 defeat at the hands of the Huskies on Tuesday. Kern Valley's loss continues an unfortunate trend for the team, making it five in a row.
Despite the defeat, Kern Valley saw an underclassman step up: Bryce Smoot scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mammoth to victory, but perhaps none more so than Forest Daniels, who scored 25 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Matt Toomey, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Kern Valley has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Mammoth, they pushed their record up to 10-7 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kern Valley will take on the Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Boron is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak. As for Mammoth, they will be playing at home against the Broncos at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
