3A Region III District 24 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Stafford was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in 3A Region III District 24. Earlier in the week, the Spartans defeated the Spartans 23-21.
KIPP Sunnyside moved up to 1,093 from 1,122 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 13-12 win over KIPP Academy helped KIPP Sunnyside improve its standing.
Columbia's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. WILLIS JOHNSON threw for 70 and one touchdown and JERRY WAYNE COTTEN had 26 yards receiving. On the ground FLOYD BESS chipped in 108 yards.
Columbia's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Roughnecks feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. JOHNSON has thrown for 156 yards and one touchdown this season, while JARIUS KESEE has six catches for 83 yards. BESS leads the league in rushing with 537 yards.
KIPP Sunnyside and KIPP Academy played the most hotly contested game in 3A Region III District 24 this week, with KIPP Sunnyside eventually emerging with a 13-12 victory.
