It was a good run, but the Innovation Academy The Red Tailed Hawk unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Thursday. They received a tough blow as they fell 64-46 to Wayland.
Several The Red Tailed Hawk players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Derrick Twum, who scored 19 points. Twum is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 18 every time he's taken the court this season. Bryce Kankam was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Innovation Academy's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-6. As for Wayland, their victory ended a eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Innovation Academy will take on Northeast Metro RVT at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Northeast Metro RVT is coming into the match with four straight wins on the road, meaning Innovation Academy will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory. As for Wayland, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Newton South at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th.
