Makayli Davis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kylee Holland, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Harmonie McClain, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Clements' loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Colbert County, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Clements has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .485. However, it's not like Colbert County struggles in that department as they've averaged .452. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
