After flying high against the Liberty Christian Prep Lions last Tuesday, West Melbourne Christian Academy came back down to earth. West Melbourne Christian Academy ended up on the wrong side of a tough 71-48 walloping at the hands of Morningside Academy on Thursday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for West Melbourne Christian Academy in their matchups with Morningside Academy: they've now lost five in a row.
Morningside Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elijah Bell led the charge by scoring 25 points along with six rebounds. Bell also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Damon Folds, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 assists.
West Melbourne Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Morningside Academy, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2.
West Melbourne Christian Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Landmark Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 8, 2024. Morningside Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Tradition Prep at 7:00 p.m. on December 15th. Tradition Prep will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 547th, while Morningside Academy is ranked 273rd).
