The King Lions were the 35-7 winner over the Middleton Tigers when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. King was outmatched by Middleton on the road and fell 36-7.
Daivon Kindred threw for 88 yards on eight of 20 attempts. Kenynn Roux was his top target, picking up 35 receiving yards. On the ground, Kejuan Strowder rushed for 61 yards.
Middleton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bryan Hunter led the charge by rushing for 75 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. Hunter was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 65 yards. Another player making a difference was Xavier Mccullough, who rushed for 70 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
King's defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 6.0 points per game. As for Middleton, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. King will take on East Bay at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. East Bay presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than King in Florida (East Bay is ranked 240th, while King is ranked 494th). As for Middleton, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Sumner at 7:05 p.m. Sumner is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
