The Tri Titans will square off against the North Decatur Chargers at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Tri is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They came out on top against South Decatur by a score of 10-5. That looming 10-5 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Titans yet this season.
Karter Lunsford made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Lunsford was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Masyn Chalfant was excellent, earning two runs and three stolen bases. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. James Burke was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Meanwhile, North Decatur entered their tilt with Southwestern on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Spartans get on the board and left with an 8-0 win. Considering the Chargers have won ten matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Tri, North Decatur also got a great game from a two-way player: Matthew Fields. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Fields has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Wyatt Reisman, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Nolan Burkhart, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
North Decatur's victory bumped their record up to 15-9. As for Tri, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-18-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Tri has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like North Decatur struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Tri suffered a grim 15-2 defeat to North Decatur in their previous meeting on May 1st. Can the Titans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
